As for some of those times when all you have brought with you is just your smart phone and you need access to a PC. In every techies mind using a public computer can feel as disgusting as a port-a-potty not like dirt everywhere but cluttered with malware, someone not logging out of their email or the most popular someone downloading useless programs and toolbars. In this post I want to show you what to do you avoid those problems and potential risks of your account being taken.
1. Use safe mode as it does not run excess programs like tool bars so if you know that the PC is free but is bloated give safe mode a try. However the downside to safe mode is that fine tuned malware can still run or block other programs. To get into safe mode on a Windows PC after the bios has loaded press F8 repeatedly then press enter on safe mode with networking.
2. Use a virtual environment this is one of the most secure methods of using another PC however if you are using another user account which does not allow executable files this method is useless. One program to use to prevent potential malware is Sandboxie as it runs programs and files in a virtual environment. You should use this method if you are doing potential risky things to prevent the spread onto other computers and prebvent man in the middle attacks
3. Boot from something other than the boot drive like a DVD or USB drive. Certain Linux distros allow you to boot and try the operating system directly from the drive without even touching another drive. You will want to keep in mind as public computers can have a policy to prevent users from doing this as thus has been said consider your self warned.

How to optimize you're PC (Windows)
So you just got a new PC for a great price however the performance its not every great. So here are a few tips on how to optimize that PC for performance and put in it the fast lane.
1. Turn off unnecessary services like the Smart card service is used if you're PC has a smart card slot. You can disable unused services which services can decrease you're battery life. However I do recommend that you keep services on like Windows Update.
2. Install CCLEANER as this is a free program for home users and it scans into you're system and removes lots of stuff like browser cache and temporary system files. It also has a registry cleaner to keep you're registry up and clean.
3. Turn off Areo. In Windows Vista and 7 Areo provides those visual affects like transparency however they do slow down the PC noticeably. To turn not use Areo go to you're control panel and appearance and themes and select windows classic or change the color and unselect use transparency affects.
4. Install more RAM as RAM becomes cheaper it makes sense to install more. Make sure you install RAM that will work with you're motherboard or it will not work at all.
5. Install a SSD. They range in capacitites from 60GB to 1TB. The benefit of owning a SSD is you don't have to defragment the drive and the read and write speeds of the drive can be as high as 550/MBS.

How to speed up you're Android Phone
ROOTING OR INSTALLING CUSTOM FIRMWARE ON YOU'RE DEVICE WILL VOID THE WARRANTY I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT YOU DO.
This is an article on How to super charge you're Android phone. The article can be found in Maximum PC magazine the March 2011 issue.
First thing first the device used in this article is was a Samsung Galaxy Skyrocket which is quite old but is certainly no slouch. This article gives a few details such as installing a custom recovery image to install Cyanogen Mod and does involve rooting which is not universal for every device on the market as not every device runs the same security features and the same version of Android.
To install a custom Rom on newer Samsung Galaxy devices requires a PC and a USB data cable as well as an Internet connection. To install a custom Rom you will need to find the correct kernel image that contains a custom recovery such as ClockworkMod recovery or any recovery based on CWM the last 2 programs you will need are Odin Or Heimall these are you're flashing programs but be advised about a few things as Odin is Windows only and Heimdall can be used on OSX, Windows, or Linux but in Windows drivers installed for Heimdall can only be used in Heimdall and for the easiest way on Flashing in Heimdall use Heimdall-Frontend as that is the GUI for Heimdall. If you are new to flashing firmware or anything always pay attention to the instructions and NEVER FLASH A BOOT LOADER as a bad bootloader flash will literally make you're device a paper weight.
So if you don't want to flash custom firmware there are still a couple of tips you can use with or without rooting your device. The first way of speeding up you're device is to manage you're tasks and avoid applications that require services to constantly stay running Android has a built in way of managing those applications as any device running 2.2 or higher applications have the right to run at start up. To get you're running tasks goto Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>Running and you will see the running services on you're device you may chose which applications you don't running. However this can be a time consuming task to avoid doing this down Advance Task Killer when you have it installed go to home and add the widget and tap the widget to close running applications and voila feel a faster device with better battery life.
--> The next way speeding up you're device is to install the V6 super charger to install it you will have to root you're device and install Busy Box. To install a script is going to be pretty tricky on a stock Rom as certain mods only work on custom Roms. To install Busy Box head over to the Play Store and install Busy Box the latest version is recommended now and allow when it request root rights then go to the Play Store and download Script Manager and locate the script and only run as root then follow the instructions and reboot to apply the changes.
